Which cargo services can I enquire about?
Containerised deliveries, general break-bulk and consolidation, reefer containers, bonded and non-bonded cargo, import and export coordination, and dangerous goods. Include every requirement relevant to the load; service fit is assessed for the proposed movement.
Can one movement involve more than one service?
Yes. A reefer enquiry can also involve bonded status or an import/export handover. Include the container type, cargo conditions, customs status and handling needs together.
What is needed for dangerous goods?
Supply the transport classification, including UN number, proper shipping name, class or division and packing group where assigned, plus packaging, quantity and safety information. If classification is uncertain, obtain it from the supplier or a suitably qualified person. See our Dangerous goods guide and the CTU Code, chapter 10. Acceptance follows cargo-specific review.
What is needed for reefer cargo?
Include the commodity, written operating conditions, controller set point, equipment details, route and handovers. Identify required power and monitoring arrangements and the contact responsible for instructions or deviations. See our Reefer containers guide and the CTU Code.
What makes a bonded enquiry different?
The customs procedure, responsible declarant, licensed remover role and movement and completion documents need to be clear. SARS states that bonded road carriers must be licensed removers of goods in bond. A service enquiry does not establish who holds that role; it must be confirmed for the movement.
